Frequently Asked Questions

You can choose either all vegetables, or a mix of fruit & veg. The mixed boxes are usually about 80/20 or 70/30 veg to fruit. Each veg box will include all the basics; usually potatoes, onions, carrots and greens of varying sorts, as well as a constantly changing selection of seasonal produce that looks good that week. Each box is big enough for an average sized household for a week, although that does depend on how much veg you eat!

I deliver veg boxes to all of Sheffield, as well as the Hope Valley, as far as Edale.

I deliver veg boxes to south & west Sheffield on a Wednesday, north & east Sheffield on a Thursday, and to the Hope Valley & Edale on a Friday

I try to buy as locally as possible. Most of my UK veg comes from Lincolnshire, East Yorkshire and Lancashire, while the fruit comes mainly from Kent. It’s always a bit of a balance as I like to include some more exotic fruit, and UK grown tomatoes and onions (for example) aren’t available all year round.

I am particularly pleased that there is minimal single use plastic used in transporting the produce. Most comes in wooden or cardboard crates, or big paper sacks for the potatoes. I have recently arranged for a group of local volunteers who look after a walled garden to take all my plastic mushroom crates and wooden boxes for their plants and seedlings. My veg boxes themselves are re-purposed supermarket crates, which (while plastic) are practically indestructible (I’ve had some for 3 years).

Each veg box costs £17 including delivery to Sheffield or the Hope Valley – including Edale. No minimum sign up needed. And if you are away and need to cancel a delivery, just let me know a day in advance and you won’t be charged.
